Rita Anderson, Secretary

Rita Anderson has been a long-time resident of Torrance since 1952. Rita, her husband, Tim and two children, Brian and Melissa are Torrance Unified School District graduates. Rita and Tim graduated from North High School in 1970, Brian in 1996 and Melissa in 1999. Rita and Tim are also proud grandparents of four grandchildren; Olivia, Andrew, Ava and Christian.

Rita began working for the Torrance Unified School District in February 1985 as an Instructional Assistant and later as a School Secretary, Certificated Personnel Technician and lastly as an Administrative Assistant in Human Resources, where she remained until her retirement in December 2020. She had the opportunity to work with so many dedicated co-workers and supervisors and see TUSD grow into the exceptional District it is today.

Rita gave several years of volunteer service in Torrance schools as PTA President at Yukon Elementary School for the 1989-1990 school year, Co-President at North High School for the 1994-1995 and 1995-1996 school years and various other positions over the years. She was also honored with several service awards including the PTA Honorary Service Award, PTA Continuing Service Award, Saxon Spirit Award, Student Involvement Award, City of Torrance Volunteer Service Certificate, PTA Golden Oak Award, ACSA Confidential Employee of the Year Award and TUSD Employee of the Year Award. She also extended her volunteer leadership service throughout the community with such organizations as AYSO, Girl Scouts of America, North Torrance Little League, and Kashiwa Sister City Program.

In 2002 Rita began her volunteer service as the Secretary of the North Torrance Homeowners Association, which in 2020 changed its name to the North Torrance Neighborhood Association, and she currently serves in that position. Rita is proud to be a Board Member of the NTNA which gives her the opportunity to help make a difference in our community.

As a long-time resident, Rita has been able to see the extensive growth and development of the City of Torrance as it acts on the needs of the community within a complex, changing environment.
