A local South Bay native, Mia Kartsonis was born in Torrance and raised in San Pedro. She graduated from San Pedro High School and eventually earned a degree in Legal Studies and American Politics from Chapman University.
Mia and her husband, David Kartsonis, bought their home in North Torrance to start a family in 2017. Since their move to North Torrance, both David and Mia have been active in the community.
Mia has served as a City of Torrance Historic Preservation Commissioner for the past three years and her husband serves as Chair of the City of Torrance Planning Commission. The Kartsonis family believes in being active members of society and participate in multiple volunteer organizations, hoping to pass on the desire to serve to their own children, Michael and Emily.
In addition to her service as NTNA Board Member and City of Torrance Commissioner, Mia also volunteers her time at North Torrance AYSO Region 16 as Coach and Board Member. She also serves as Torrance Cub Scouts Pack 996 Den Leader and Fundraising Chair. Having worked as a behavior
therapist for autistic children for over 12 years, helping cultivate youth is a passion of Mia’s.
For the past decade, Mia has owned and operated her own Wedding, Special Event and Corporate Event planning business, Pastiche Event Productions (IG @pasticheeventsla). She enjoys creating memorable events for momentous occasions and travels near and far for her clients.
In addition to all of her volunteer positions and small business, Mia also homeschools her two children since 2020 and, with the help of her family, she makes sure they are active in Cub Scouts, Soccer, Music Classes and Dance Company.
In whatever time she has to spare, Mia likes to travel with family, eat delicious food, read a good novel and movie nights with the family. She truly enjoys the community she has integrated into here in North Torrance and the relationships she has built in the community.
