Pat Furey currently serves as the President of the Torrance Education Foundation.
Before taking on this role, Pat dedicated over 14 years of public service to the Torrance community, from July 2008 to July 2022. He began as a city council member and later served for eight years as the Mayor of Torrance, until reaching his term limit. During his time in office, Pat contributed to numerous committees and organizations at the local, regional, state, and national levels.
Prior to his election, Pat was deeply involved in the community as the president of the North Torrance Homeowners Association (now known as the North Torrance Neighborhood Association) for eight years. After leaving office, he continued his commitment to the NTNA by serving on its board.
An Army veteran, Pat graduated with honors from the UCLA Attorney Assistant Training Program and worked as a legal assistant for several years before pursuing law school. He earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of West Los Angeles and is a member of the California State Bar Association.
Pat retired from the County of Los Angeles after serving for two decades as a Principal Deputy County Counsel in the Children’s Services Division.
Pat and his wife, Terry, have been married for 47 years and are proud parents of two children and nine grandchildren.
